Portland spearheaded testing the feasibility of the first specialised agriculture impact fund in Palestine, in partnership with Oxfam International and Dimensions Consulting. The $5-$7 million impact investment vehicle, to be subsequently scaled to $50m, is designed to maximise positive, measurable social impact while addressing the critical funding gap for agriculture businesses.
The overarching vision is to build a more profitable, more resilient and more sustainable agriculture sector to help drive a stronger Palestinian economy through planning and implementing intervention activities that are required to increase the agriculture sector’s prospects for expansion. This will be facilitated through channelling investments in businesses with impact and providing them with the necessary technical assistance and mentorship to scale, while seeking positive returns on investor capital.
