Palestine Securities Exchange (PEX) Roadshow

Helping listed Palestinian companies access potential British investors.

The Portland Trust helped organise the PEX London road show on 17-19 March 2010. The Palestinian delegation to London consisted of 32 business and finance professionals. During the three days, the delegation had over 30 business-to-business meetings with some of the largest international investment funds covering emerging markets and the Middle East, as well as the London Stock Exchange.

Lord Freud - Trustee and former CEO of The Portland Trust - welcomed the Palestinian delegation and approximately 150 guests from the London financial sector and economic institutions to the main seminar of the Roadshow. These included CEOs from Palestinian bluechip companies such as Paltel, Padico, Al Quds Bank, Massar, Birzeit Pharmaceuticals and the Palestine Electric Company alongside senior representatives from PEX, the Palestinian Capital Markets Authority and the Palestine Investment Fund.

PEX subsequently organised a follow up Roadshow to London in June 2011.

PEX was set up in 1996 to promote investment in Palestinian companies. 47 Palestinian companies are listed on PEX, in a range of different sectors including banking, manufacturing and services.

Each month The Portland Trust publishes an update on PEX in the Palestinian Economic Bulletin. A special feature on PEX was published alongside the February 2010 issue Bulletin.

The Portland Trust is a British non-profit ‘action tank’ whose mission is to promote peace and stability between Israelis and Palestinians through economic development.
